Capital Campaign Donation

The Sherman Theater has moved into the public phase of its Capital Campaign. The Cap30 Campaign asks area residents and Sherman patrons from all over to contribute at least $30 towards the finalization of the theater buildings renovation and expansion, which includes the restoration of the historic 1929 Main Street façade.

“If every person in Monroe County were to give $30 to this project, we would reach our goal of creating a debt-free performing arts center for the region and community,” said Richard Berkowitz, Executive Director of the Sherman Theater. “We are already well on our way to success, having received funding from both private and public grants and donations. Now we are asking for the community’s support.”

Individuals donating at least $30 towards the Sherman Theater Capital Campaign will receive a Cap30 silicone wristband. Berkowitz encourages donors to wear their wristband as a sign of support for the arts and community in the Pocono Mountains Region.

With the success of this campaign, the nonprofit organization will own the theater building debt free, while funds raised will also be used for the acquisition of building space for the expansion of the regional arts center, ensuring that the theater and Stroudsburg will have a long-term economic and cultural impact on the region.

Over the last two years the restoration of the Sherman Theater has been met with great success. With over 90,000 people visiting the Sherman since its rebirth, the facility has significantly helped to revitalize downtown Stroudsburg. The Sherman has hosted numerous sold out events including the Vienna Choir Boys, Bob Weir & Ratdog and Weird Al Yankovic, while also presenting a wide variety of community-oriented productions such as last weekend’s Spotlight Awards and the theater’s ongoing Patriotic Concert Series.

The Patriotic Series features performances by military based musical ensembles and are offered free to the public. The next installment of these events will take place on June 14 and feature a performance by the USAF Air Heritage Celtic Ensemble. Sherman staff and board members will be discussing renovation plans and the capital campaign in the lobby before this event.

We thank you for...Being Part of the Success.
